From the Organizer
What is the LivSports 24 Hour Adult Hockey Marathon benefiting LivFree?
Here’s how it all works - the event is a continuous game with 60 to 90 skaters playing on two teams in 3 rotating groups based on ability, with a running score from opening puck drop to the final horn. Each player raises $1000 dollars for the cause. LivFree is a pediatric cancer non-profit organization that provides children and their families with moments of joy to take a break from struggle and enjoy some family time together. Whether it's tickets to a game, a Broadway show, or a night out, LivFree is here to help the whole family.
When will this take place and how does it work?
The event starts at 12 pm on Saturday, July 18th, 2026, and the final horn will sound at 12 pm on Sunday, July 19th. Teams will be broken up into 3 groups (A, B, and C) based on ability, and each skater will get a minimum of 8 hours of ice time. The standard swag for each player will be a custom jersey, synthetic hockey socks, an event hoodie, meals, snacks, drinks, and more.
What arena will this take place at?
We knew coming into this that the best way to honor the effort of the players, both in their fundraising and in their time on the ice, was by securing an amazing venue. After a few steps into the Lee & Penny Anderson Arena at St. Thomas University in Saint Paul, MN, you will see that we found an absolute gem.
There will be more...
There is so much more that will be involved in this event, with opportunities for family members to come watch, raffles, fundraising incentives, corporate sponsorships, and more.
So get in touch with your teams, sign up, and spread the word. Don’t miss your chance to take the ice with LivFree and help change the lives of kids and families battling childhood cancer - one shift at a time.

From Endurance Grid
Endurance Grid is here to help you understand the sport, decide if it's the right fit, and learn how to prepare. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer's event page.
The half marathon is the distance where you find out what you're actually made of. Long enough to demand real preparation. Short enough that it doesn't consume your life to train for it. Most people who run their first half describe it as the race that changed their relationship with what they're capable of. Once you cross this finish line, the bar moves. That's not a warning — that's the point.
Race day energy varies by event size, but the finish line feeling is the same regardless. Big races keep the noise going the whole way. Smaller races give you stretches where it's just you and the miles — and that solitude becomes its own kind of fuel.
The half marathon rewards people who show up for the boring training miles.
How long to train: 10–14 weeks. If you're already running consistently, 10 weeks of structured buildup is enough. If you're building from a casual base, give yourself 14.
From 5K to marathon, running races are the most accessible entry point into endurance sport. There's a distance for every fitness level and a community at every start line.
