From the Organizer
Start your last Saturday in July with an early morning nature walk or run at Deer Lodge's Grant-Kohrs National Historic Ranch. There are 3k, 5k, and 10k options and the proceeds will go toward a new Track and Football Field for the Deer Lodge School District. Support a good cause and then piggy on down-town to enjoy the annual Cookin’ on the Clark Fork BBQ Cook-off.
The race starts at the Visitor's Center and follows Cottonwood Creek to the Clark Fork River. See some excellent grassland habitat and follow the old Milwaukee Railroad right-of-way through a swampy area which is great for spotting aquatic birds. For a view and a challenge, run the 10k out to the far pastures of the Ranch to see the main herd of cattle and experience some incredible views along the way. Whichever race you decide, stretch your legs and visit parts of the ranch that most visitors never experience.
