Save the date and please follow us on our Run Through the Pines Facebook and Instagram page.
The Run Through the Pines is a destination run and a San Bernardino, Rim Mountain Community Event. It is one of the longest "running" runs in Southern California (the first one was in 1979). It features a 10K and 5K run (or walk) around Lake Gregory and through a pine tree forest. Runners (and walkers) can enjoy a semi-paved course at a 4,720-foot elevation, which makes it a perfect little challenge for mountain locals and especially our friends from down the hill. Race day staging is at the San Moritz Lodge “Meadow” area near the Lake Gregory Company bait and tackle shop. We encourage participants of all levels, children in strollers, pets on a leash, and especially teams/groups.
Lake Gregory is located in Crestline, a charming little town filled with one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants. We encourage all runners to stay the weekend and enjoy the town.

Sponsors
The Run Through the Pines is a mountain community event hosted by the Rim of the World Recreation and Park District and the Lake Gregory Company. The run relies on sponsors and/or local businesses and organizations to enhance the runner's experience on race day. If you would like more information on how to become a sponsor, please call the Park District Office, (909) 337-7275.
We love our volunteers and honestly, the event couldn't happen without them! We are currently looking for Registration and Race Kit Pick-up volunteers, Water Station Volunteers, Start/Finish Line Volunteers, and lots of course marshals to ensure a safe and fun event for everyone. Contact the Park District Office if you would like to volunteer.
Parking is offered onsite at the San Moritz Lodge and in Lake Gregory parking lots. Please do not park directly in the Crest Forest Senior Citizens parking area or near their building, you will be towed.

About This Sport
Endurance Grid is here to help you understand the sport, decide if it's the right fit, and learn how to prepare. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer's event page.
The 10K is the distance where running stops feeling like a starting point and starts feeling like a sport. Long enough to require a real training block. Short enough that race day is fully manageable for a first-timer who's put in the work.
Race day energy at a 10K is community at its best — strangers cheering you by name, people moving toward the same goal, an atmosphere that solo training can't replicate. It's fast enough that you'll spend the whole race pushing rather than managing your effort.
This is also the distance that builds the base for everything else. Most athletes who go on to run half marathons, do triathlons, or compete in HYROX started here. What you need: running shoes fitted to your stride, a training plan, and the race on your calendar. The registration is what makes the deadline real.
How long to train: 4–8 weeks for most fitness levels.
From 5K to marathon, running races are the most accessible entry point into endurance sport. There's a distance for every fitness level and a community at every start line.
