100 Miles to Auburn – A Global Virtual Challenge Inspired by the Western States 100
Born in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic, the 100 Miles to Auburn virtual race was created as a way to stay connected, motivated, and inspired—no matter where in the world you’re running. Since then, it’s become an annual tradition, with over 3,000 runners from around the globe joining the journey each year.
Held each June, this virtual race mirrors the iconic 100-mile trek from Olympic Valley to Auburn, the same route covered during the legendary Western States Endurance Run. While Western States runners take on the course in a single weekend at the end of June, 100 Miles to Auburn gives you the whole month to complete your miles—wherever and however you choose.
Whether you're training for your own ultramarathon, supporting a runner at Western States, or just looking for a meaningful goal to chase in June, this race brings the spirit of the trail and the camaraderie of the ultra community to your own backyard.
Join us in keeping the tradition alive. 100 miles. One month. Anywhere. Let’s run to Auburn—together.
In past years, we’ve proudly provided belt buckles to all finishers of our 100 Miles to Auburn Virtual Race. While we love honoring your incredible achievement with a buckle, the rising cost of materials and shipping has made it increasingly difficult to do so without raising registration fees.
To stay true to our commitment of keeping this event affordable and accessible, all finishers will now receive a high-quality finisher medal. For those who still want to commemorate their 100-mile journey with a buckle, we’ll be offering the option to purchase one separately after the event.
We appreciate your understanding and continued support—and we can’t wait to see you crush those 100 miles!
