From the Organizer
For most of the Summer, we will again be at the Dominican University Track in Blauvelt. There will be a couple of workouts at other locations. The fabled “Perkins Run” during the week of Summer Solstice will be on June 23rd and we'll have a hill workout at Rockland Lake on a date to be determined. The planned workout and any location changes will be communicated by e-mail on Sundays to all registered participants.
These summer track workouts are suitable for all fitness levels, so don't feel intimidated. Our experienced and knowledgeable coaching staff, Ray Kondracki and Jamie Kempton will tailor the workouts to suit all paces. This is not specifically a youth program, but children 10-years and older are welcome to attend a complete as much of the workout as they are able. Younger children must be supervised.
Getting faster is just as important to a beginner as it is to a highly competitive runner. Additional benefits include aerobic and muscular fitness, race pacing and confidence within your training level. Our coaches can answer your individual training questions before, during and after workouts.
We suggest that you arrive early to allow time to stretch and warm up before the speed part of the workout starts at 7:00pm! The Club will provide water and Gatorade.
We often conduct workouts in light rain. Workouts may be cancelled however, when severe weather conditions exist. Last minute changes and cancellations will be communicated by e-mail to all registered participants and also posted to our social media accounts: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
The program is free for all current Rockland Road Runner Club Members. Guests may try out the program for one session (you'll just have to sign a waiver), but if you attend regularly, we do require that you join the club. Membership options are listed on our website. If you would like to make a donation towards the end-of-season track party, you can do so at the donation page, or contribute cash at one of the workouts.
The track is located to the west of Western Highway, which is opposite the main campus. It still looks like an open field in Google Maps! The best street address to plug into your GPS is 488 Western Highway, Blauvelt, NY 10913 That is actually St Dominic's School.
If you are traveling north on Western Highway (from Exit 6 on the Palisades) turn left into the driveway opposite the main Dominican Campus and continue straight back past all the buildings. The track, signed as O'Brien Field, will be on your left and you should find parking on your right.
