The Towpath Trail 10K and Half Marathon! Come join the fun and run the beautifully maintained towpath trail along the mighty Maumee River. Both courses start at Providence Metropark near the dam across the river from Grand Rapids, OH. You'll head out on the historic canal towpath and then return to the finish at the Providence dam and shelter. The towpath is crushed gravel and dirt with lots of shade. You'll enjoy scenic views of the river and run past the historic canal locks and grain mill at the park. You can spend some time around by the dam at the Shelter after the race and then visit quaint Grand Rapids.
Half marathoners should be able to finish within three hours. Walkers are encouraged to participate in the 10K. Gift certificates will be given to male and female overall, masters (age 40-49), and grand masters (age 50 and above) winners in both races.

The Towpath Trail 10K and Half Marathon is one of four race events in the Toledo Roadrunners Club Trail Race Series in partnership with Metroparks Toledo. It is a great introductory trail race as it is flat, open, and has good footing. It is perfect for just a run or training for an early fall marathon. Other races include the Marsh Madness 10K at Howard Marsh Metropark on June 20, Oak Openings Stampede 5K and 25K races at Oak Openings Metropark on September 13 and Falling Leaves 5K and 8 Mile races at Secor Metropark on October 25. Once registration opens for these other three events, a discount option will be offered if you sign up for all four events at the same time. If you are planning to do this, please wait to register.
Registration for the Towpath Trail 10K and Half Marathon includes a tee shirt and finisher medal. There is a no shirt option where more of your registration fee will go to charity!
Towpath Trail 10K and Half Marathon is currently capped at 175 participants. This event sold out 10 weeks in advance of the 2025 event. It is expected to sell out again this year.

From Endurance Grid
Endurance Grid is here to help you understand the sport, decide if it's the right fit, and learn how to prepare. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer's event page.
The half marathon is the distance where you find out what you're actually made of. Long enough to demand real preparation. Short enough that it doesn't consume your life to train for it. Most people who run their first half describe it as the race that changed their relationship with what they're capable of. Once you cross this finish line, the bar moves. That's not a warning — that's the point.
Race day energy varies by event size, but the finish line feeling is the same regardless. Big races keep the noise going the whole way. Smaller races give you stretches where it's just you and the miles — and that solitude becomes its own kind of fuel.
The half marathon rewards people who show up for the boring training miles.
How long to train: 10–14 weeks. If you're already running consistently, 10 weeks of structured buildup is enough. If you're building from a casual base, give yourself 14.
From 5K to marathon, running races are the most accessible entry point into endurance sport. There's a distance for every fitness level and a community at every start line.
