RACE CANCELLATION OR ALTERATION POLICY:
Here at the Y, we want to do our very best to ensure the safety of our program participants. There are some situations where the decision may be made to cancel or alter the Sidewalk Shuffle 5K, as these may create an unsafe environment for those who are involved in the event.
If the weather poses a danger to runners, the Y upholds the right to cancel the Sidewalk Shuffle. If the forecast is calling for severe thunderstorms with the threat of lightning, the event may result in cancellation.
Since the weather is an uncontrolled variable, there will not be any refund or credits given in the event the race is canceled. This is due to the expenses that go into the planning and implementation of the event.
The Directors of the YMCA associated with the race will make the decision regarding the cancellation or alteration of the race. If weather conditions do not give a reason to cancel the event but could have an effect on the runners (such as heat or light rain), runners will be advised on how to handle these conditions prior to the race.
In the event that a cancellation or alteration will take place, The YMCA will notify participants through the email provided on the registration form, the Duluth Area Family YMCA website, and social media as soon as the decision has been made.
DATE FOR GUARENTEED TEE-SHIRT HAS PASSED. We will do the best we can to make sure everyone will get a tee-shirt, but it is no longer guaranteed.
