Get ready for the Putnam County Classic “Race the Lake” 2026 Edition!
We are happy to bring this Iconic race back to the Town of Mahopac for its 2nd Year with proceeds
supporting our very own Mahopac Fire Department. Last year we raised $4000!
Join us on July 4th, 2026 as we Race around Beautiful Lake Mahopac the Heart of our Town and County!
The race will start at 7AM. Registration is open and there is an early bird discount through June 4.
There will be race day registration.
The race will begin at the town of Carmel Property at 179 E. Lake Blvd, Mahopac NY 10541. Directly across
the street from the Mahopac Fire Department. Parking will be at the Firehouse and the starting line will be on
Croton Falls Road between Route 6 and E. Lake Blvd. Gun time is 7:00am.
Circling the beautiful shores of Lake Mahopac this 5.3 mile course starts out flat and fast for the first half for a
great warm up, running west along the lake and through the town center. The course then circles around the
West and North shore of Lake Mahopac’s stunning homes, scenic lake views, and grit-testing hills. The
course finishes off the final mile passing by the Mahopac Golf Course with a straight shot of flat terrain to the
finish line on Croton Falls Road.
Pricing will be $35 until June 4th, $40 until July 3rd, then $45 on race day. Sign up early to guarantee your
swag! Taconic Road Runner members get a $5 discount.
Youngsters pay less: $10 for those up to 13 years old, $15 for those 14-18 years old. (no club discount)
Shirts, hats, and swag bags will be guaranteed to the first 350 registrants, as well as medals to the overall and
age-group winners AND awesome locally made finisher medals to the first 400 finishers!
This is going to be a Fun and Festive event with food vendors, music AND special prizes for Oldest & Youngest
Runners as well as, Most Patriotic, Sweatiest, and for the Runner who traveled the furthest distance to
participate!

The awards ceremony will take place directly on the waterfront of Lake Mahopac, across the street from
registration and staging. With scenic views of beautiful Lake Mahopac, it’s a great place to take pictures after
the race.
There will be plenty of refreshments and the now Infamous, hot egg sandwiches for all runners. Runners over
21 will also enjoy a free beer from Captain Lawrence Brewery!
Fun and festivities afterwards include enjoying a morning Mimosa or Bloody Mary (free to our over 21 race
participants) at Friends Waterfront Grill just a short walk from the finish line.
Runners and guests will also be able to view the VFW’s Annual 4th of July boat parade, which begins at 10am
on Lake Mahopac. Bring a chair, your flags, horns and patriotic gear to cheer them on from the lakeshore.
