Race in honor of Maxton Gudowski with proceeds going to Cooper Community Care.
We're hosting the second annual Maxton Gudowski 5K Memorial Run/Walk. Maxton was tragically taken from us on July 25th, 2024. Maxton was an avid runner when he was younger and was always loving, caring, and willing to help anyone in need. We feel this is a suitable way to memorialize him. Each year we will be choosing a few different nonprofit organizations to spread Maxton's love and kindness on his behalf. This year, all proceeds from the online race registration will go to Cooper Community Care, a nonprofit organization based in Superior, WI, dedicated to reducing the impact of poverty on local families and ensuring a more equitable education for all children in the community. They provide year-round assistance, including groceries, gas money, and laundry support, with a significant emphasis on annual Christmas giving initiatives (Watch this video for more info on what they do! Cooper Community Care - Celebration of Giving). We will also be having a raffle on the day of the race, with proceeds from the raffle going to Safe Haven Shelter & Resource Center.
We are also seeking sponsors to help cover race expenses. If you would like to donate to help fund the race please email maxgudowski5k@gmail.com to learn about our sponsorship options!
We chose to hold this event at Portman Park, located in the Lakeside neighborhood of Duluth, MN. Maxton lived in Lakeside for nearly 5 years, an area that was special to him; he frequented the businesses and outdoor areas there often.
Also, in addition to the race, we will be holding a meat raffle at Birds Bar in Superior, WI on Wednesday, May 20th at 6:00 pm to raise funds for Healing Paws Rescue.
