From the Organizer
Get ready for the next 50 years of the Firecracker Chase - now rebranded for the 51st anniversary! The Firecracker Crunch will start with a bang on the 4th of July, which is the date of the OG Firecracker Chase, but we won't be running it at 1PM like they used to! Meet us at 7AM at the Lincoln County Fairgrounds and run or walk where the horses race, enjoy the patriotic red, white, and blue theme, and support the Quatina M. Wolaver Foundation of Hope! It's more than just a race; it's a Fayetteville tradition celebrating community and hope!
This year's event will be timed manually, but we hope to have enough runners registered this year to be able to bring back an official timer for next year's event.
We will have one aid station - it's a large loop so, you'll pass it twice during the race. WE WILL BE CUPLESS SO YOU WILL NEED TO BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE. We will provide water and LMNT packets at the aid station. There will also be some CRUNCHY, patriotic treats at the end.
All runners will receive a participant medal.
Awards will be given to:
0-17 M - Top 3
0-17 F - Top 3
18+ M - Top 3
18+ F - Top 3
*Again, we hope to generate enough support to offer age group awards in future events, but with our late start this year and other unknowns, this is how we are rolling with it.
The race will take place on the horse racing track. In no way will you need trail shoes bc it's all smaller gravel and should make for a great racing surface! We are very grateful to the LC Fair for allowing us to hold this event at their location.
Restrooms will be available under the grandstands.
You will need to enter the fairgrounds at the the Hedgemont Avenue gate. You can follow the driveway down to the track area and park there for nearest access to the race.
