The Eden Prairie Optimist Club's 12th OK 5K walk/run is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, June 27, at Purgatory Creek Park, 13001 Technology Drive, Eden Prairie. The 1-mile options starts at the same time, with guides along the trail helping the runners. Major sponsors of the 5k include the Eden Prairie Optimist Club, EPTFA and the city of Eden Prairie. Sponsors also include Brandpoint, Scheels, Associated Bank. Proceeds go to the community programs of the Optimists, including the Valleyfair trip for local Elementary School Patrols, Essay and Oratorical contests, Central Middle School Youth Appreciation and more. The Eden Prairie Optimist Club is a civic organization with an emphasis on programs that benefit and recognize the youth of Eden Prairie.
