From the Organizer
Sadly, permits were unable to be secured for this race, nor will they ever be able to be secured with how city permitting currently works. HOWEVER, we're still holding a VIRTUAL race! Do your own triathlon now through September 5th, record your times, and then we'll distribute swag and awards the following weekend! The ONLY open-water sprint triathlon in Utah County is HERE! New in 2026, the Art City Tri will blow your socks off! We start off with a chilly swim of about 200 yards out and back from the beach to the fishing dock in Wayne Bartholomew Family Park Reservoir. Next, you will complete a six-mile out-and-back bike ride on the Mapleton Trail. Stash your bike and dash in the river bottoms on a relatively flat 5k run to finish off the triathlon! You'll love our beautiful course, awesome finisher medal, super-soft t-shirt, and not to mention the absolute charm of Art City--Springville! Also, finish our TRIFECTA by completing all three of our triathlons (Payson Orchards Triathlon, Splash Summit Triathlon, Art City Triathlon) and get an EXTRA sweet finisher medal!

DISTANCE
REGULAR SPRINT TRI: ~200 yard swim (wetsuits encouraged, lifejackets permitted), 20k bike (12.4 miles), 5k run (3.1 miles)
TEAM SPRINT TRIATHLON: A team of 2-3 people where each person does one (or two) of the above leg(s). (Please first register one person, then go back and register the others in order to get the group pricing discount.)
THE RACE!:
SWIM
Starting on the beach, you will swim about 200 yards out-and-back from the beach to the fishing dock, and back. Because the usual temperature in late summer of Bartholomew pond is around 60 degrees, wetsuits are encouraged, but not required. We suggest not doing this alone! Have a friend on a paddleboard accompany you!
T1
Swimmers will exit the water where they started and enter the transition area to dry off, grab their bike, helmet (REQUIRED), and shoes and head off to the Mapleton Trail!
BIKE
The bike exits the park to the east and turns south (right) (left) down the road. Download our Strava route of 6-miles out and 6 miles back! Make sure you pack water for your ride! Slow down as you come back to Bartholomew Park to finish and rack your bike in T2.
T2
Rack your bike, strap on your running shoes and head south out of the park.
RUN
You'll make one big rectangle, running in the river bottoms. If you need water or electrolytes, remember to bring them with you! After running through beautiful Mapleton and Springville neighborhoods, you'll head toward Bartholomew park, run around the pond on the dirt road to the finish line! You'll have done it! Time to celebrate your success with family and friends!

About This Sport
Endurance Grid is here to help you understand the sport, decide if it's the right fit, and learn how to prepare. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer's event page.
Three sports, one race — swim, bike, run in sequence, with transitions that are a discipline of their own.
Open water, open roads, and competition with yourself. Cross the finish line knowing what it took to get there.
Swim, bike, run — back to back. The sprint distance makes it far more accessible than most people think.
