🎉 Post-Race Family Swim Party
The Athletic Company is proud to bring back the 4th Annual Rock the Rind — Tall City Triathlon as part of The Athletic Event Series.
This sprint-distance triathlon is built for the whole community — from first-time triathletes ready to take on a new challenge, to experienced athletes looking for a fun summer race, to relay teams bringing friends, family, or co-workers together.
This year, we’re keeping the summer energy going with watermelon, movement, family fun, and a post-race swim party at COM Aquatics.
Rock the Rind is a sprint-distance triathlon featuring:
The race begins at COM Aquatics, with the transition area located in the parking lot. Individual and relay options are both available.
As part of The Athletic Event Series, we are proud to host an event that gives individuals the opportunity to challenge themselves, build camaraderie, and support the COM Aquatics team and community.

Date: Saturday, June 27, 2026
Location: COM Aquatics, 3003 N A Street, Midland, TX 79705
*Event times are subject to change.
The race begins with a 500 meter long-course snake swim through the main pool inside the FMH Foundation Natatorium at COM Aquatics.
After the swim, participants will enter T1 transition in the parking lot before beginning the bike course.
The 11-mile bike course will head west toward Wadley and Fairgrounds to access Loop 250. The bike course will be an out-and-back route using the Loop 250 service roads. Course maps will be provided.
After T2 transition, participants will begin the 3.1-mile run through Windlands Park toward North I Street. The run course will also feature an out-and-back route.
Registering for the relay will be the same as forming a team.
During registration, you will be required to either join an existing group or create a new group.
If you create a new group, you will create a group password to share with your other team members.
Relay teams are required to have 2–3 participants.
For a 2-person relay team, one participant will complete two legs of the race.
For a 3-person relay team, each participant will complete one leg of the race.
The team captain will be responsible for paying the full relay race entry fee. Once the fee is paid and the group is formed, all other team members must still register themselves under the team.
This is required so each participant can sign the waiver and designate their relay leg.
There will be no additional registration cost for team members after the captain has paid the team entry fee.
All relay team members must register through RunSignUp.
Water will be available in the transition area.
There will also be one water station on the 5K run course.

About This Sport
Endurance Grid is here to help you understand the sport, decide if it's the right fit, and learn how to prepare. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer's event page.
Three sports, one race — swim, bike, run in sequence, with transitions that are a discipline of their own.
Open water, open roads, and competition with yourself. Cross the finish line knowing what it took to get there.
Swim, bike, run — back to back. The sprint distance makes it far more accessible than most people think.
