From the Organizer
It’s a rite of summer on Cape Cod: an event that attracts not only local triathletes but also visitors from across the nation and the world. Join a very festive -- yet competitive -- atmosphere at the 2026 Falmouth Sprint Triathlon!
The Falmouth Triathlon has been voted one of the top 5 races for beginners worldwide by the Triathletes Choice Awards, so “casual” athletes and newcomers know they are very welcome to join the tri-geeks. It’s a wonderful day for everyone!
COURSE DESCRIPTION
SWIM: 1/3 mile
A sandy, waist-deep start at Surf Drive Beach (expect temps well into the 70s). The course is rectangular in shape, following the shoreline, and well life-guarded. Wave conditions over the years have ranged from glass-calm to a slight chop; never “big surf” in the protected waters of Vineyard Sound.
BIKE: 8.5 miles
After a mile-long flat stretch to warm up the legs, you begin a gradual climb of 2 winding miles to Nobska Light. Then it’s a rolling four miles entering into the village of Woods Hole and then returning along a new, quieter route to Falmouth Village. The remaining two miles are either downhill or flat to the finish.
RUN: 3.2 miles
A very level and fast run on paved road and walking trail along Vineyard Sound. Consider a hat and sunglasses — not much shade! Two staffed water stops. The last 50 yards are on the sand of Surf Drive Beach where the biggest cheering crowd of the New England Triathlon Tour awaits you!
PACKET PICK-UP AND LATE REGISTRATION
Saturday evening from 4:30 - 6:30pm at the Mullen-Hall School or 5:30-6:30am race morning at race site. All participants: BRING ID AND PROOF OF USAT MEMBERSHIP
You will NOT be able to pick up packets for others!
WATER CONDITIONS
Race director does reserve the right to substitute a beach run for the swim if water quality tests indicate any health hazard or if surf conditions are extremely rough.
USAT SANCTIONED
This is a USAT Sanctioned race! That means that we meet or exceed strict guidelines set by USA Triathlon. This benefits the athlete by providing additional insurance coverage in case of injury.
You are required to have either an annual or 1-day (Bronze) USA Triathlon membership in order to race in any USAT-sanctioned event. Non-USAT members will be required to purchase a one-day event insurance license from USA Triathlon. Costs: $14.99/sprint, $9 per relay team member, $10 for youth.
Results will count toward national and regional rankings. All USAT rules and regulations will apply. Racers are subject to time penalties or disqualification for infractions of USAT rules.
TRANSFER/REFUND POLICY
Transfers: Private transfers can be processed through your athlete account for a $25 fee. Please contact us for transfers during race week.
Deferrals: Unable to make it race day? Defer your entry to 2027 right inside your athlete account for a $30 fee. No deferrals will be processed after 7/6/26.
Refunds: There will be no refunds for this event. You may purchase Refund Protect during the registration process which would provide a refund for certain qualifying circumstances.
There will not be a wait list for this event.
TRAVEL
For those traveling from afar, Cape Cod is awash with hotels, motor lodges, inns, bed and breakfasts, vacation cottages and AirBnB offerings.
AWARDS
Awards ceremony is tentatively scheduled for 9:30am day of race. Awards presented to top three competitors in each age group (male, female and non-binary) as well as top Elites, Clydesdale/Athena, First-Timers, Male, Female and Co-Ed Relay Teams, and overall top competitors for the Aquabike category. Those who cannot remain for the ceremony may pickup their award at the Awards table or by contacting us for shipping instructions. Results will be posted on our website within 24 hours of event.
RELAY TEAMS
Your choice: 2-person or 3-person team! The captain should register, then go to their participant account to customize the name of the team and send email invites to who they want on their team. Each member of the team must register and have a USAT membership (1-day or annual). All team members must be present together at packet pickup to receive their race materials.
CRITICAL PARKING INFORMATION
There will be NO parking at race site OR on Falmouth’s Main Street. Primary parking sites will be the Mullen Hall School, Lawrence School and Falmouth Marine Park (all less than one mile from venue). All competitors will receive an athlete’s guide prior to the event with essential parking information. Additionally, police and staff will be posted at all entrances to the race venue, blocking access by vehicles and directing you to approved parking lots. Cooperation by all is critical to the continued approval of this event by the town.
NO DOGS!
We all love our pets. But town regulations forbid dogs on or near the beach this time of the year. Please leave your pooch at home!
VOLUNTEERS
We love our volunteers! Friends and family members of athletes are encouraged to volunteer while watching the action. Priority parking, T-shirt, refreshments and swag bag are only some of the perks! Contact us at bethann@neeevents.com for more information.
TIMING
Chip timed. Results link will be posted to NEEevents.com as well as links from our Facebook page.
TRI IT YOUR WAY (VIRTUAL CATEGORY)
Can't make it in person? No Problem!
Here's how Tri It Your Way works:
1) Pick your triathlon activities! Remember, you can either swim the 400 yards (or 1500 yards for the Olympic distance) or choose another activity to do for 10 minutes (20 minutes if competing in Olympic distance). The bike needs to be at least 10 miles (20 for Olympic) and the run needs to be at least a 5K (10k for Olympic) - and yes, you may go over, but not under!
2) SAFETY FIRST! Make sure you are taking all the safety precautions when swimming, biking, and running. This means not swimming alone and following all the rules of the road (or trail). Just like all the precautions you take when training or racing an event, we want you to be safe.
3) Record each activity with your watch, or phone, or bike computer.
4) Document your tri! Whether it’s someone taking pictures of you “racing” or stopping for a selfie mid-run, we want to see you in action! Dogs, kids, partners, friends are encouraged to join in with you!
5) Email your pics and race data to info@neeevents.com.
“Tri It Your Way” runs from July 5 - July 19, 2026. Results must be submitted by July 19, 2026.

Three sports, one race — swim, bike, run in sequence, with transitions that are a discipline of their own.
Open water, open roads, and competition with yourself. Cross the finish line knowing what it took to get there.
Swim, bike, run — back to back. The sprint distance makes it far more accessible than most people think.
