From the Organizer
Run to Remember VB is a charitable race, conceived by four widows of Navy SEALs who were killed in action along with 26 other service members on August 6, 2011. In the midst of our grief, we felt extreme gratitude for the communities who rallied to support us- Naval Special Warfare, Virginia Beach, and many others around the nation. Our gratitude led us to create this event to bring people together to celebrate the true meaning of Memorial Day while giving back to organizations whose mission is to support families of fallen service members.
Run to Remember VB is held on Memorial Day at the Military Aviation Museum in Pungo, VA. The morning begins with the National Anthem and the presentation of colors. At 8:06, in honor of the men we lost on August 6, 2011, the 5K will begin followed by the 1-Mile Kids’ Fun Run. Long after the race ends, the event continues with music, local food, and beverages.
With dedication and hard work, since it’s inception, Run to Remember VB is proud to have donated more than $320,000 to various philanthropic organizations including Snowball Express, SEAL-NSW Family Foundation, Navy SEAL Foundation, All In All the Time, SEAL Legacy Foundation, Comfort Zone Camp, Gold Star Teen Adventures, the Special Operations Warrior Foundation, Travis Manion Foundation, Wreaths Across America, SOS: Special Ops Survivors, Salvage USA, The Danny Dietz Memorial Foundation, The Home Base Foundation and most recently Special Operations Warrior Foundation and Tunnel To Towers .
