From the Organizer

Hi Families,

Want to keep your kids active this summer, while learning a few skills?  Join us for our Pathways, Parks, and Pools Summer Program. Each day, we will start at Ridgewood Park, where kids will learn bike skills before heading on to the pathways for a bike ride. With the help of our coaches and junior coaches, kids will ride to a nearby playground (each day we will venture a bit farther and work on more advanced bike skills). After some fun at the playground, we will then head to the pool to cool off and have some swim time. While we can't teach swim skills at the pool, the coaches will be in the water, playing games with the kids. Pick up each day will be from the pool where we end.

Each day from 10 am-1 pm. Fridays will be a weather make-up day. There will be no refunds if you can't make the make-up day.

Confidence Building (June 1-4 and June 15-18)

Pre-requisites:

  • Ages 6-12
  • Must be able to ride a bike up to 3 miles
  • Must be able to stop and start their bikes without help
  • Must wear a HELMET at ALL times while on their bikes (Please note this is non-negotiable - if your child shows up without a helmet, they will not be able to join us. We will not have extras.)
  • Must be able to swim comfortably without the use of a flotation device. While we are at public pools with lifeguards, coaches will be in the water with the kids. It is the parents' responsibility to send kids who know how to swim without assistance.
  • Safety is our number one concern, so we ask that kids listen to coaches and follow directions. We will be riding bikes on pathways and crossing roads. Coaches will be in front and behind the group, but kids must be able to follow their directions. We want them to have fun, but they also must be safe. If your kids cannot do this, we might not be the program for them.
  • Carry water and their swim gear with them on their backs in a safe manner. (Sling backpacks that are too big or broken may be a safety concern.)

Adventure Continues (June 8-11 and June 22-15)

Ages 8-12 (younger kids only if approved by coaches)

Pre-requisites same as Confidence Building and:

  • must ride up to 5 miles comfortably (in the heat)
  • must know how to swim
  • must be able to ride comfortably on trails and make tight turns
  • mountain bike or bike that can ride on dirt trails
