Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail - Hyak Parking
Snoqualmie Pass, WA US 98068
All-ages, 5k walk or run through the historic Snoqualmie tunnel. Afraid of the dark? Have no fear, the tunnel will be partially lit with LED lights. Following the race, head to Dru Bru (Sno Pass) for an outdoor, all-ages, block party. We’ll have food, games, beer, cider, wine, and soda!
OPTIONAL ADD-ONS:
You will pick up your race merch onsite the day of the event. Additional glow gear is highly encouraged; the brighter the better! If you're looking for wearable inspiration, check out GlowUniverse.com. We also suggest a personal flashlight or headlamp.
THE RACE:
Wave 1 - Runners Only. Must be able to complete a 5K in under 45mins
Wave 2 - Joggers/Walkers/Strollers
The race is a loop. You will start and end at the Palouse to Cascades State Park - Hyak Trailhead parking lot (formerly the Iron Horse State Park Trail). The course is pretty flat. You will start ~.5 mile outside the tunnel, run/walk approximately one mile in, turn around, and run/walk one mile out, back to the start. LED lights will help illuminate the tunnel and race course, but a personal light is also recommended.
Additional Tunnel details and directions can be found here: Palouse to Cascades Trail - The Tunnel
Using Google Maps search for "Hyak Parking Lot, Snoqualmie Pass, WA 98068." Traveling East or West on I-90 you will take exit 54.
PARKING:
There are two parking lots.
TUNNEL CONDITIONS:
Be prepared for extreme darkness and cold temperatures. For this event, LED lights will help illuminate the path, but a personal light is also recommended. The tunnel is chilly; the average temperature (year-round) is ~50 degrees, so we encourage you to wear a long-sleeved shirt or light jacket. The ground is made of compacted gravel.
BIKES:
To ensure the safety of our runners/ walkers this a bike-free event. Strollers are allowed. Since it's a public park, we are required to keep the tunnel open to the public; therefore, bikes may be present but will not be officially part of the event.
KIDS:
This is a kid-friendly event. Children 4 and under are free (and do not need to register).
DOGS:
Animals are not allowed due to the number of participants and event conditions.
