On May 25, 2025, join us at Comanche Park, Salado Creek Greenway, for an event dedicated to honoring the spirit of heroism and resilience that defines the American ethos.

The American Hero 25k Relay:
Gather your team and step into the shoes of champions in the American Hero 25k Relay. This thrilling relay race navigates a looped 5k course through the scenic Salado Creek Greenway, offering teams an opportunity to showcase their teamwork, endurance, and determination. With each handoff, runners embody the strength and fortitude that characterize our nation's heroes.
American Hero Half Marathon:
The American Hero Half Marathon! Participants will conquer 13.1 miles out and back in the beautiful Salado Creek Greenway trails. Whether you're a seasoned runner or new to the sport, join us as we inaugurate a new tradition of honoring heroes through the power of running.
The 10K Ruck:
Challenge yourself in the 10K Ruck, where participants carry a rucksack weighing no less than 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds over a scenic 10-kilometer course. This event pays tribute to the resilience and strength of our nation's heroes, providing a unique opportunity to walk in their footsteps and experience the weight they carry in service to others.
The Hero 5k Race:
For those who want to join the cause but prefer a shorter distance, we're thrilled to offer the Hero 5k Race! Lace up your shoes and conquer one loop of the scenic Salado Creek Greenway, covering 3.1 miles in honor of our nation's heroes.

The half marathon is the distance where you find out what you're actually made of. Long enough to demand real preparation. Short enough that it doesn't consume your life to train for it. Most people who run their first half describe it as the race that changed their relationship with what they're capable of. Once you cross this finish line, the bar moves. That's not a warning — that's the point.
Race day energy varies by event size, but the finish line feeling is the same regardless. Big races keep the noise going the whole way. Smaller races give you stretches where it's just you and the miles — and that solitude becomes its own kind of fuel.
The half marathon rewards people who show up for the boring training miles.
How long to train: 10–14 weeks. If you're already running consistently, 10 weeks of structured buildup is enough. If you're building from a casual base, give yourself 14.
From 5K to marathon, running races are the most accessible entry point into endurance sport. There's a distance for every fitness level and a community at every start line.
