We’re excited to invite you and your family to the Familia 5K, a fun and uplifting community race hosted by The Bridge Rio Hondo, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Valley Baptist Youth!
As a Christian non-profit in the RGV, Valley Baptist Youth wants the family 5k to create an opportunity for families to come together and run a race that they can finish together as a reflection of the spiritual race that God calls us too.
We want to use this as a tangible example of what it means to "persevere the race marked out for us," as Christians and as a families.
Our scripture of the day will be Hebrews 12:1-2 NIV: “12 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us,”
We want families to understand that their spiritual journey is going to present challenges of several kinds, but we want them to know that the word of God calls us to preserve in Christ alone!
Salvador Gonzalez, a valley native, veteran, marathon runner, and triathlete will be sharing a devotional in the morning and leading us with a small stretching session before our run.
Our hope is that families would be encouraged to see their lives in light of the Gospel despite circumstance or challenges ahead.
So don't wait! Sign up your entire family and finish the race together, we'll see you there!!!
Make sure to stick around after the race for some refreshments and games. All age groups are welcome.
