Bound for the Sound is 5k and 10k road race in Old Lyme, CT. Both courses start at popular Sound View Beach in Old Lyme, CT. The 10K is mostly flat with some gently rolling hills. The 5K is very flat and very fast. Both races finish down historic Hartford Avenue facing the beach. Post race food and drink is included in your race entry. 
The 10K course is USATF certified (CT25015JHP) and will serve as the USATF-CT 10K State Championship for both 2025 and 2026, concluding the USATF-CT Road Grand Prix series.

Entry Fees

  • 10K - The fee is $27.50 if paid before August 1, $30 between August 1 and August 31, and $32.50 if paid on or after September 1.
    • Entry includes a t-shirt and chip timing
  • 5K - The fee is $27.50 if paid before August 1, $30 between August 1 and August 31, and $32.50 if paid on or after September 1.
    • Entry includes a t-shirt and chip timing
  • Family Fun Run - $5
    • Entry includes finisher prize. T-shirt is not included but can be added as a $10 option.

Event Schedule

  • Registration available (ONLINE ONLY) up to and including race day
  • Race day check in and bib collection from 7:00 am
  • 10K race starts at 8 AM
  • 5K race starts at 8:15 AM
  • Family Fun Run starts at 9:15 am

Parking

Parking is free for the event, and volunteers will be available to assist with parking management throughout the day.
Please use one of the following designated parking areas:
1. Town-owned lot at the end of Hartford Avenue in Sound View (91 Hartford Ave., Old Lyme, CT)  [Adjacent to Start/Finish]
2. Lot next to the Old Lyme police station on Shore Road (290 Shore Road, Old Lyme, CT) [0.4 mile walk to Start/Finish]
3. Town-owned lot at Cross Lane (12 Cross Lane, Old Lyme, CT)  [0.5 mile walk to Start/Finish]
***NOTE: If you have an RV or a large vehicle, please park at the Cross Lane lot.
We will fill the Sound View lot first. Once it nears capacity, vehicles will be directed to the police station lot, and after that, to the Cross Lane lot.

  • Top three overall male, female 5K and 10K finishers
  • Top non-binary 5K and 10K finisher
  • Top three male & female 5K and 10k finishers in each age groups:
    • 12 & under
    • 13-19
    • 20-29
    • 30-39
    • 40-49
    • 50-59
    • 60-69
    • 70-79
    • 80+
  • Fun Runners will each receive finisher prizes

The Run:

  • Both the 10K and 5K races are chip timed with instant results
