From the Organizer

Red Coyote’s Half/Full Marathon Training Program is designed to help you train for the Prairie Line Half Marathon on Sunday, November 15th, the Salina Crossroads Marathon on Saturday, November 7th and the Route 66 Half/Full Marathon in Tulsa on Sunday, November 22nd!  All abilities are welcome. Whether you're a runner/walker attempting your first endurance event or you're shooting for a new PR, there's a place for you in our Pack. Walking pace groups are exclusive to the Half Marathon distance due to the race time cut off.

In our Red Coyote program, we think sharing the training journey with friends working to achieve a common goal is the best part and makes every run more fun! We'll help you achieve your goal safely by a gradual and strategic increase in your training mileage. We give instruction on proper hydration, nutrition, injury prevention, running form, training principles, as well as other areas to help you have a successful race. We have over 50 experienced pace group coaches who will support you and keep you motivated! If you have friends you would like to invite, please send them the registration link and not the link to the Facebook page. Although this is a free program, you must be officially registered to be granted access to the Facebook page.

REGISTRATION & COST

Our program is FREE this season. You will have the option to purchase a training shirt for $20.00 during registration but it is not required. Shirts will be ordered and printed once registration closes on August 25th and will be distributed about midway through the training cycle.  Red Coyote will only order the amount pre-purchased so if you'd like one, order now, they won't be for sale at a later date. We may have some people who participate from out of town virtually. If you'd like your shirt mailed to you, we're happy to do so for a $10.00 shipping fee. Any shirts that haven't been picked up 14 days after the program concludes will be donated to one of our charity partners. The welcome email, training handbook and link to the Facebook page will be sent out in mid July a couple weeks prior to the start of training.

About This Sport

From Endurance Grid's Founder

Endurance Grid is here to help you understand the sport, decide if it's the right fit, and learn how to prepare. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer's event page.

The half marathon is the distance where you find out what you're actually made of. Long enough to demand real preparation. Short enough that it doesn't consume your life to train for it. Most people who run their first half describe it as the race that changed their relationship with what they're capable of. Once you cross this finish line, the bar moves. That's not a warning — that's the point.

Race day energy varies by event size, but the finish line feeling is the same regardless. Big races keep the noise going the whole way. Smaller races give you stretches where it's just you and the miles — and that solitude becomes its own kind of fuel.

The half marathon rewards people who show up for the boring training miles.

How long to train: 10–14 weeks. If you're already running consistently, 10 weeks of structured buildup is enough. If you're building from a casual base, give yourself 14.

Running

From 5K to marathon, running races are the most accessible entry point into endurance sport. There's a distance for every fitness level and a community at every start line.
