From the Organizer
The loss of our permanent shelter on Laffoon Trail was devastating for our organization and our community. While it was incredibly difficult to see the building taken down, that chapter has now closed. The site has been fully cleared, the ground prepared, and we are actively working with engineers and architects to finalize plans for rebuilding a larger, updated facility that will meet all state and local codes. This process will take time, determination, and substantial financial support—but we are committed to seeing it through for the animals and citizens of Hopkins County.
In the meantime, our temporary shelter on Dulin Street required extensive updates to allow us to safely resume animal intakes. We are grateful to share that these updates are almost complete, and the temporary facility will be fully operational beginning in February. Even with these improvements, our need for community support has never been greater.
This event is more than a race—it is an opportunity for our community to come together in support of animals who rely on us every day. Funds raised through Run for the Paws directly support medical care, shelter operations, and our long-term goal of rebuilding a permanent humane society facility for Hopkins County.
Parking is available in all designated parking areas.
Participants are encouraged to bring donations of dry and soft, dog, puppy and cat food, blankets and cleaning supplies (bleach, dish soap, cleaning cloths, disinfecting wipes, etc.)
