We will once again be collecting wishlist items for Sarah's House. We will send out their wishlist about a month before race day. A table will be set up near check in for items to be placed on. Representatives from Sarah's House will take items back to Holden with them on race day.
FUN STUFF
Remember to wear your best lobster attire and be entered into our "lobster lottery". On race day wear your lobster outfit and fill out a ticket at the check-in table! You may just win a fun prize!!
The entire event is made possible by the generosity of local business and individuals, and race day would not be a success with the countless volunteers! No one is paid, money raised is donated. THANK YOU!
FUNDRAISING
Create a fundraiser page! The top fundraising team and individual fundraiser will be recognized. Find this info under the "donate" tab in the race main menu.
HONOR & REMEMBER
This is YOUR weekend to honor or remember your loved one as we've all been touched by cancer in some way. Let's come together and support one another while giving back to non-profit organizations who have helped us through difficult times. Be sure to make a poster to honor/remember your loved one. We will have them along the course if they are turned into Jonesboro Grange by July 9, 2026.
WHY CRUSH CANCER?
The Crush Cancer 5k race was created by siblings, Rebekah Hodgson & Andrew Cox, and hosted by Jonesboro Grange #357, after their father was diagnosed with bladder cancer. Watching John, their father, go through chemo treatments really opened their hearts to what others face every day. A benefit for John was unable to be held due to the pandemic and John would give you his last dollar before wanting any fundraising to be done for him. So in his spirit of giving, the race is held to honor and remember everyone who has been touched by cancer. The race was created to do two things: 1) bring others together so they know they're not alone & 2) to give back to those who are walking the same path that our family has been on.
John has given back to the local area in numerous ways in his lifetime. Through Crush Cancer we use the same pressure as a lobster claw (100 lbs per square inch) to Crush all the negativity that comes with cancer. All money raised is donated to area non-profits who help individuals and their families as they navigate a cancer diagnosis.
🦞We hope you'll join us on Saturday July 11 in Jonesboro Maine for the 6th Annual Crush Cancer Lobster Crawl 5K Walk/Run and Kids Dash! The first race as held on John's birthday. John is a cancer survivor and lifelong Jonesboro resident.
RACE BENEFICIARIES
This is a charity race and it's being sponsored by local non-profit, Jonesboro Grange #357. All money raised (after race expenses) will be presented to Sarah's House of Maine and the Christine B Foundation.
