Dog Days of Summer 5k & 1-Mile Run

Description:
The Denham Springs High School Cross Country team is hosting the sixth-annual Dog Days of Summer 5k and 1-mile run on Saturday, August 1, 2026. The race will go along historic River Road in Denham Springs and offers runners a beautiful course with lots of shade. We hope to provide a worthwhile run for everyone. All proceeds beyond the administrative costs of the event will be donated to the Denham Springs High School Cross Country program. The race will be officially timed and managed by Threshold Timing. All participants that REGISTER BY Saturday, July 18th will receive a t-shirt. All 5k finishers and all 1-mile finishers 14 and under will receive a custom medal. There are a maximum of 300 spots available for the races.
Post-Race Festivities:
After the race, we will have drinks and food (while supplies last) in the pavilion near the finish line.

Registration Fees (Early & Late Fees & dates):
Registration through June 28th, $20 for 1-mile run, $35 for 5k.
Registration through July 19th, $25 for 1-mile run, $40 for 5k.
Registration through August 1st, $25 for 1-mile run, $45 for 5k.
Packet Pickup (Location, Date & Time):
We strongly encourage you to pick up your packet before race day. Denham Springs High School, 1000 N. Range Ave, Denham Springs, LA, 70726, Friday, July 31st, from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. We will be located by the two story science building facing Range Ave.
Race day packet pickup at race site, starting at 6:00 am.
1-Mile Age Groups:
5 and under, 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-14
5k Age Groups:
14 and under, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 and over
1-Mile Awards:
Top 3 for Each Age Group - Prizes to be determined
5k Awards:
Top Overall Male/Female, Masters Champion (40 and up) Male/Female, Grand Masters (50 and up) Male/Female, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, Male & Female in each age group
Overall Champions, Masters Champions, and Grandmaster Champions will receive a gift card from Varsity Sports
5k Age Group winners will receive a custom singlet from Varsity Sports
