We cannot promise you'll encounter any cryptic, aquatic creatures at Loch Chabot, but you might! We DO promise a gorgeous trail run on the scenic trails of Loch Chabot Regional Park, some quality nature therapy, and some incredible views!
We'll also hook you up with some awesome swag (an awesome shirt, a handcrafted race woodallion), a Rock the Loch beer sampler stein, & more), quality post run beverages/snacks, DJ Cryptid spinning your favorite tunes before/during/after the race, and more!
If you can't join us LIVE at Loch Chabot, no problem! We're supporting a VIRTUAL participation option as well.
Where: Lake Chabot in Castro Valley, CA.
When: Sun, 6/28- Early Half Start-8:15AM (for those needing 3.5-4 hours), Standard Half Start-9:15AM (for those needing 3 hours or less), 10K Start-9:30AM, 5K Start- 9:45AM.

Pre-Race Bib & Shirt Pickup: Sat, 6/27 from 12-4PM at Renew PT (460 Boulevard Way, Suite 2D) in Oakland.
*NOTE-A friend can pickup your bib/shirt for you provided they furnish proof of your registration and a copy of your ID/driver's license.
If you cannot claim your bib/shirt on Sat, 6/27, we will support race morning bib/shirt pickup from 7:30-9AM at the start/finish area.
PLEASE NOTE WE CANNOT SUPPORT REFUNDS, TRANSFERS, AND/OR CREDITS.
In the event of race cancellation due to wildfires, hazardous air quality, hazardous weather conditions, natural disasters, COVID and/or other global pandemics, or any 'act of God' that is beyond our control, we cannot support refunds, transfers, and/or credits. Please note this has only happened ONCE due to COVID in 2020, but anything is possible. Please make sure you are comfortable with these potential risks before you sign up.
In the event of race cancellation due to any of the aforementioned, we will ship all race swag/items to participants and provide direction around navigating the course(s) on your own. We'll also provide direction around submitting your result.
We also cannot support refunds, transfers, and/or race credits if you get injured in the days/week(s) leading up to race day, if your schedule changes in the days/week(s) leading up to race day, if a work trip comes up that makes it impossible for you to attend on race day, and/or any other professional or personal matter that arises making it difficult for you to attend in person on race day.

The half marathon is the distance where you find out what you're actually made of. Long enough to demand real preparation. Short enough that it doesn't consume your life to train for it. Most people who run their first half describe it as the race that changed their relationship with what they're capable of. Once you cross this finish line, the bar moves. That's not a warning — that's the point.
Race day energy varies by event size, but the finish line feeling is the same regardless. Big races keep the noise going the whole way. Smaller races give you stretches where it's just you and the miles — and that solitude becomes its own kind of fuel.
The half marathon rewards people who show up for the boring training miles.
How long to train: 10–14 weeks. If you're already running consistently, 10 weeks of structured buildup is enough. If you're building from a casual base, give yourself 14.
From 5K to marathon, running races are the most accessible entry point into endurance sport. There's a distance for every fitness level and a community at every start line.
