From the Organizer

The “Boots on The Ground” race consists of a 5k family-oriented fun walk or run, as well as a more demanding 10k run (twice around the 5k course) starting at 9:00 AM with an Honor Guard Salute. Hosted in incorporation by both Lt. Charles A. Meyer, American Legion Post 86, Newton, NJ, and Skylands Stadium, Augusta, NJ.  The sports campus is perfectly suited for the race in that it is flat. The race route is primarily asphalt with some gravel or sand areas. Especially inside of the baseball field near the warning track.

Lt. Charles A. Meyer, American Legion Post 86, a community-oriented post, serves veterans and their families by directly supporting local homeless veteran organizations, the Boy Scouts of America, local student academic grants, and donations to local first responders.

Skylands Stadium, the home of the Sussex County Miners professional baseball team, is located in the heart of rural Sussex County in Augusta, New Jersey. The stadium and surrounding facilities have been recently renovated, offering exciting sporting events, tradeshows, and fun, affordable family entertainment all year round. Amenities include:

• Upgraded 4,200-seat stadium
• 3 concessions stations
• Multi-purpose 17,000-square foot indoor Event Center (1,400+ people)
• 5,000-square foot outdoor Pavilion (300+ people)
• Cigar Deck with VIP seating for up to 100 guests
• 10 fully furnished, private air-conditioned luxury suites with bars and HDTVs
• wheelHouse Craft Kitchen + Bar, an upscale 80-seat restaurant
• The Backyard Place, a 3-acre play and party area complete with the Miners Express train, Gemstone Mining Sluice, bounce house, and carnival games
• The Company Store, the Miners shop for official team gear and merchandise
• Catering by Krave Events, one of New Jersey’s top caterers
• Spacious 20-acre parking lot is suitable for outdoor events such as car shows and festivals

Indoor and outdoor rental spaces are available for corporate and community functions.

The event aims to raise awareness and support for our veterans. Both Lt. Charles A. Meyer, American Legion Post 86, and Skylands Stadium believe veterans transitioning back to civilian life appreciate and deserve the support of a welcoming community. Join us to show them we welcome and support them. Your entrance fees will go a long way in providing educational resources and economic support for our veterans.

About This Sport

From Endurance Grid's Founder

Endurance Grid is here to help you understand the sport, decide if it's the right fit, and learn how to prepare. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer's event page.

The 10K is the distance where running stops feeling like a starting point and starts feeling like a sport. Long enough to require a real training block. Short enough that race day is fully manageable for a first-timer who's put in the work.

Race day energy at a 10K is community at its best — strangers cheering you by name, people moving toward the same goal, an atmosphere that solo training can't replicate. It's fast enough that you'll spend the whole race pushing rather than managing your effort.

This is also the distance that builds the base for everything else. Most athletes who go on to run half marathons, do triathlons, or compete in HYROX started here. What you need: running shoes fitted to your stride, a training plan, and the race on your calendar. The registration is what makes the deadline real.

How long to train: 4–8 weeks for most fitness levels.

Running

From 5K to marathon, running races are the most accessible entry point into endurance sport. There's a distance for every fitness level and a community at every start line.
