Event Information
Join law enforcement officers from across Lee County for the Alabama Law Enforcement Torch Run, supporting Special Olympics Alabama - one of the most impactful and inspiring movements in our community.
This isn’t just a race - it’s a chance to stand alongside the Auburn Police Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, and Opelika Police Department as they carry the Flame of Hope and champion athletes with intellectual disabilities. Every step you take helps provide year-round sports training and competition for Special Olympics athletes - giving them the opportunity to build confidence, experience joy, and showcase their incredible abilities. The mission of Special Olympics Alabama is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. These programs give athletes opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy, and share their gifts, skills, and friendships with their families and communities.
Alabama athletes have proudly represented the state at national and international competitions and continue to shine on the world stage, including the upcoming 2026 Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis, MN.
