From the Organizer

To celebrate the annual summer tradition of Shark Week, Relevant Running brings you another of our signature "live virtual" races with a unique and relevant theme! We're bringing you the best and most unique medals and bling for this race including; our custom designed limited edition Shark Bait medal with a real fossilized shark tooth. The medal is a whopping 4 inches. Each shark tooth is carefully crafted into a pendant that can be attached to an eyelet on the back of the medal as pictured, or made into a necklace with the included black leather lanyard. See pictures below for the Shark Bait medal and real samples of our (soon to be your) shark teeth pendants.

Join us on Saturday July 11th 2026 for the SHARK BAIT "LIVE VIRTUAL" 5K/10K. This is no ordinary virtual run. It's a unique virtual running event, with thousands of runners who have already experienced and love our live virtual race format.  Among other things, there is a scheduled race date and start time (Saturday July 11th 2026 at 8am Eastern time USA), a virtual check in and start via text or Facebook live-stream on race day morning, timekeeping (runners will text screenshots or pictures of their chosen method of time and distance keeping), a private and active Facebook group dedicated to our virtual runners, and age group winners. Please note, Facebook is NOT required to participate. You can use text to communicate as well. All participants will receive the one of a kind custom SHARK BAIT 5K/10K medal with real fossilized shark tooth pendant (scroll down for pics).

******* If you cannot or do not wish participate on the scheduled race date, you can absolutely still register. Please select the "medal and tooth only" option. This option ships about a week before the race date. But, keep in mind, you won't be eligible for age group awards (engraving for your medal) or to be counted among the "official" times posted after race day.

All registered runners should join private Facebook Group for access to positive discussions and posts regarding our virtual races, race day live-stream virtual check-in and virtual start (Please note, Facebook is NOT required to participate. You can use text just as well)

Race Date virtual check in and start time: Sat. July 11th 2026. Virtual check-in via text or live-stream in the Facebook group above starts at 7:00am Eastern time USA. Virtual race start at 8:00am Eastern time USA (or any time after as long as you are done by 11am eastern). The live-stream will be going while you are running, and we will be waiting for you to complete your 5k or 10k during the race day window of 8am to 11am Eastern time USA. As noted above, if you cannot participate on/at the scheduled race date/time during the race day window, you can absolutely still register. Your medal will still be shipped. But, you won't be eligible for age group awards, or to be counted among the "official" times posted after race day.

Timekeeping: Given the unique nature of each runner's situation, we will accept proof of completed 5k or 10k on race day (only) via text (to be provided in pre-race emails). For example: Treadmill runners may text a picture of their treadmill console. Or, phone app users may screenshot their completed run on their phone app and text the picture. Or, runners using a fitness watch may snap a pic of their watch-face and text it in. You may run in any way that is safe, legal, and ethical in your area. This may be on a treadmill, trail, track, beach, sidewalk, laps around your house, laps inside your house, etc. It is entirely the runner's choice, and responsibility to maintain safety and follow all your own local laws, directives, regulations, etc.

Results for those who choose to run competitively will be published in the Facebook Group and emailed.

About This Sport

From Endurance Grid's Founder

Endurance Grid is here to help you understand the sport, decide if it's the right fit, and learn how to prepare. For course distances, logistics, and race-day specifics, always defer to the race organizer's event page.

The 10K is the distance where running stops feeling like a starting point and starts feeling like a sport. Long enough to require a real training block. Short enough that race day is fully manageable for a first-timer who's put in the work.

Race day energy at a 10K is community at its best — strangers cheering you by name, people moving toward the same goal, an atmosphere that solo training can't replicate. It's fast enough that you'll spend the whole race pushing rather than managing your effort.

This is also the distance that builds the base for everything else. Most athletes who go on to run half marathons, do triathlons, or compete in HYROX started here. What you need: running shoes fitted to your stride, a training plan, and the race on your calendar. The registration is what makes the deadline real.

How long to train: 4–8 weeks for most fitness levels.

Running

From 5K to marathon, running races are the most accessible entry point into endurance sport. There's a distance for every fitness level and a community at every start line.
